  • Exhaust to loud?

Does anyone have a trick or tip on making an after market exhaust quieter? My stock cans were damaged pretty bad, and I decided to change them out for a set of slip ons from a Suzuki Blvd. It turns out that the slip ons are a lot louder than I'd anticipated. I'd considered packing some stainless mesh (kinda like Brillo pad) into the inlet side of the muffler to potentially break up the sound waves, but I'm unsure if that would even work. I'm running the stock headers. I torched the old cans off, and have welded a 1.5" stub about 4" long on the end for the slip on to bolt to.

There has to be an old school cure for this other than just wearing ear plugs

That is exactly what I do when testing my woods buggy in the alley. I cut the baffle out of the old 4 into 1 that came on my 80G, slid three or four copper scrubbies on and shove it in my stinger so the neighbors don't shoot me. Stainless would last longer.

      Baffles

Put a set of baffles in my pipes and they made a big difference. You could purchase a set of baffles off Ebay. Slide them into the tubes before mounting the bells. It could work. These are some I found. You would have to make sure there is enough pipe for the nut and bells to mount to.

Good idea on those baffels, I just ordered that set. I figgure for $15 they are worth trying anyway. I may stuff some stainless steel wool into the can too.
