I run with hard core v-twin chopper guys. I've heard more "jap bike" "rice burner" comments. I think i could write a book about it. I do plan on putting my front stoppers back on tho, they were locked up when i got it so i just need to find some. Plus im fixin to do the jockey shift mod soon so ill definatley need them.

"The Black Rat"
Hey Fred,
I quoted Den from his reply to the Rat Bike thread in the Member's Lounge, looks like the "nagging" finally sunk in!
Dentat, you don't have to get new calipers from ebay, you can take yours apart with a variety of techniques to get the pistons out, ie. PB blaster squirted all around the piston/caliper junction, then heat gun applied to the caliper body to help break the corrosion bonds. IF you have them separated from the MC, then put the calipers in a vice, and I used a channel lock on the piston to twist it to get it loosened. Folks have used compressed air to push the piston out, but caution is needed with this technique. A grease gun is another way to pressure them out.
Then you can get a rebuild kit. Folks will say that using petroleum based lubes and such can cause the rubber O-ring to swell and damage it, but I did this, then cleaned things up with fresh brake fluid, put it all back together, and they've been working fine for 8 year now! BTW, there's also usually a bunch of corrosion in the O-ring groove, so removing it and scraping inside the caliper to get that out will also make the O-ring fit properly and not be too tight against the piston!
