Hi, all! Just joined the board, as I'm going to be digging the 79 SF out of the basement and refurbing her for mounting the California Friendship II I just purchased. I do believe this will make a nice strong horse for the sidehack.

I bought the SF new in 79, put about 60K on it, and sold it in 85 to a deadbeat who never paid me what he owed me. I repo'd the bike but never got the title back until about two years ago. My stable is full of other bikes (the avatar is my daily short-hopper: a much-modded 98 Trident) so I had no plans for the SF until I stumbled onto a deal for a well-used hack.

Was turning wrenches professionally back when I bought the 1100, so it already has 2-into-2 Jardines, K&N pods, White Bros. coils, air rear shocks, and some other goodies…

I'll probably be asking about part sources, etc., but may be a source for some minor tech advice for others as well.

I think this is going to be an interesting winter project!

Welcome to the forum! We have a few other sidecar owners here, so feel free to ask any questions you have. There are lots of places to get parts, and some are more expensive than others. We also have a few members who sell parts on the cheap, so I'd suggest asking before buying anything, as you may even be able to get donations if you're lucky! Be sure to take pictures too! We love to watch the progression of these projects!

Welcome aboard! Interesting project for sure. Member Fredintoon is the resident sidecar afficianado. He will probably consider you a god for deciding to add one to an 11.

Pics are always welcome and enjoyed.
