1979 xs11 falls on its face slow response under 3500 rpm,s unless you go real easy. bought bike in may 09 first street bike .love this bike . any tips on what might be causing problem?

Next thing to add is "when did you last/how many times" have you stripped the carbs down for a thorough cleaning?
Any thing less than "recently" and "three times" and your first course of action will be obvious.
