Hey, congrats on your new bike... I have an SG as well... I noticed that you are in Marlborough, Mass... I'm originally from Holyoke... now living in Appleton, ME (camden, rockland, belfast area)... if you have a hard time or need parts, drop me a message....

Thanks guys for the warm welcome,

I checked the serial number and it is a SG. Went this morning and got the plates and insurance. So I am ready to ride. Now if the weather gods are good to me I will take it to work Tuesday.

Does anyone know where I might be able to pick up a sissy bar for this bike? The wife would like one and I have to make her happy.

I will post some pics soon.

        Later,

        Steve

I have a used rack with adjustable backrest I'd sell you but the chrome on the rack is peeling. I was going to hang on to it until I sell my 80 Special but since you're in need...

eMail me at technojock@yahoo.com if you're interested.

                Hey there Steve,

Congrats on such a nice Special, in very good condition, you can get that seat repaired fairly easily, kits are available. Just in case you didn't get an owner's manual with it, you can go to the links page, and look for subject XS81Sh manual, the 80's and 81's are essentially the same. I scanned mine and put it into PDF format, about 6-7MB, might be useful, helpful!??

That is a good looking bike. I ride an '80 as well. What kind of pipes are those? Are they 4 into 2?

                    Riverchub,

Thanks for the compliments on the bike. The pipes are 4 into 2 and I think they are Jardine.
