  • Speedometer Drive, and Front Axle problem

I am nearing the finish and it seems like I am having more and more problems...

I was trying to REMOUNT the front axle and I noticed I don't have the speedo drive or really any of parts 15 to 25!

The thing is, I am putting a digital speedometer so I wasn't going to use the speedometer or really the entire cluster for anything. I don't need it but I don't think the front axle is going to go on correctly.

    So my questions are:

Can I get by without the speedometer drive, and all those parts, and if so what should I use as a spacer?

Can I get these parts from anywhere? Andreas? eBay?

    Thanks!

I just reread my post, and I want to clerify...

I am not using the speedometer at all. I wasn't going to hook it up, I was going to keep it off.

So do I still need the parts for the front wheel to function correctly?

    Thanks

You wouldn't really save anything by removing the assembly. I'd just put it back on and remove the cable. That way there's no issues with your front tire mounting correctly.

In that case you could gut the unit and only use the housing as a spacer. There's a tiny amount of drag on the gears that could be eliminated but you'll never notice the difference.
