250 watt Motorcycle Stereo

I'm thinking of picking one of these up on ebay. Has anyone had any experience with this model? The videos of it on youtube seem pretty cool. I was thinking of mounting the speakers either where the airbox was or on the luggage rack. It seems loud enough to handle that. I took some measurements and the speakers will fit nicely in where the airbox was. The amp should fit in the tool box and the controls on the handle bars. I think the speakers mounted on the handle bars would clutter it up too much.

I would think you'd want a fairing to mount something like that in. Would seem kinda strange without one, IMHO.

You're probably right. But definitely don't want to do the fairing thing and not really that keen on a windshield either. But, hey, 'strange' isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I hae a Pyle 200watt (4X50w) system on mine right now. I only have two speakers, in the CycleSound fairing mount as I have to find pods to mount the rears on the trunk.

The unit I bought has no CD player, it uses SD, USB or Aux inputs. It's a marine unit so weather doesn't bother it.

I had a Cycle-Sound unit mounted on my fairing but it bounced around too much when I rode gravel roads.

I ended up using headphones inside my helmet with an "amplirider" amp. I couldn't tell you what the power is for the amp but it's more than adequate. Mine has 3 inputs tho' I think the current model only has two (I use mine with Sirius and an mp3 player) I really like the remote volume control which can be panel mounted and is easy to use with heavy gloves. Headphones aren't for everybody but if you're considering it, this unit is definitely worth the $65 and the seller is good to work with. Here's a link:

My cyclesound bounced around too, until I fixed the two lower mount bolts that were broken off!

The amplirider looks pretty cool and the build is pretty good too! I had a friend that modified an old 60's tube amplifier out of a console that used EL84 output tubes in it. The amp was only rated at something like 1-2 watts and he beefed up the capacitors in it and wow did that give me 100db's SNR, more than enough to drive a couple 15" woofers and horns.

I picked up one of these Motorcycle FM Radio Speaker Stereo Amplified Waterproof to try out. I decided on this one mainly because of the price and the youtube video was kind of cool. Plus it has a low profile and won't look out of place without a fairing.
