  • Green coils installed with no mod's

The operation was a success! Coils went in easy, new wires and plugs went in easy, and then she fired right up.

I discovered that is IS possible to use the stock mounting holes, at least it was on my bike. I made absolutely no modifications to the mounts or the coils. The towers are pointing out to either side of the bike with no clearance issues around the frame. The rubber boots almost hit the round gas tank mounts, but I was able to route the wires back into the frame without them being in danger of smashing or pinching.

I meant to take some pics, but I guess I got a little excited about putting everything back together and I completely forgot. If there is enough interest I suppose I could take 10 minutes to pull the tank and take some shots.

Congrats E! But that's gonna make a hell of a difference for you. Maybe you'll get better gas mileage now too.

Eric - Glad you got them in. Notice a difference? I tried mine using the existing mounting holes, but I didn't like having the wires that close the frame and tank, which is why I changed it. I was concerned that, over time as the wires age, they could develop cracks or holes and I didn't want to take any chances with 75k volts arcing to my gas tank. Definitely take some pics.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

        egleaves,

Were you also able to get the frame cover on with out any issues? I think the differences is with specials and non. I bet no mod with specials.

Actually, yes, I was able to get the cover back on. I didn't think it was going to fit, but it did.
