Which way is forward on Front Wheel?

I have a standard 79, and I took off the front tire to paint the rim and replace the tire, and I painted over my arrow for the forward spin direction! Is there any other way to tell which way goes forward and which is reverse? Does it matter? I know it does on the tire and there is an arrow on my new Challenger tires...
