I have been looking for a new windshield for my 82 XJ. It has the square risers. I'm wondering if it is necessary to purchase the adapter for these bars or can I get away without. What have others done in this case? I'm not quite sure what style I want to get yet so some pics or links would be great.
    Thanks
    Rob

At my local bike shop, they were just about as cheap as online.. plus I could go back if there was a problem. In his book, they give the option for mounting hardware of round or square bars when ordering. Go do some local business and check out what they have in their book.

      Hi Rob,

I was going to refer you to one of my posts in another thread but the photos have disappeared. So here it is again.

This is how I mounted a windshield on my XJ. I used two short pieces of steel tubing cut from an old mountain bike handlebar. To one end of those I welded a washer. You then just bolt them onto the location shown in the photos. I plugged them with the plastic plugs that were in the ends of the handlebars.
