    H4 Bi-Xenon HID Kit

I have noticed that some here have switched over to the Xenon HID and I am thinking of doing it for my ride and want to know how you all feel about the units.

So, how do you all like it? Do you think it was worth the cost? Any issues? Hows the ballast and bulb life? Also what kit did you all use?

    Thank You for your inputs.

I have one, I like it, but my freinds make me drive in front, at night, now.

As to bulb life, I'll let you know when it burns out. The have no filament, so they are supposed to last a lot longer than regular bulbs.

The only issue I have is that mine likes to cut out whenever it feels like it. I am not sure if it is a loose connection, or my headlight relay that is causing this, but I will find out one of these days.

      Crazcnuk,

How long have you had yours? Did you get on of the ones from e-bay?

      Thanks

I've had mine just over a year. I got it off of Ebay.

I don't know what brand, but it came directly from Hong Kong.

I paid around $60US including shipping, if I remember correctly. You have to make sure you get a Bi-xenon (hi/lo beam)

Mine is 6300K so it's a light blue. 4300K is whiter, and higher numbers get darker blue then purple.

I bought one off ebay and installed it. Never had a problem having people see me at night and have never had to put my bright light on since. This is lucky since it takes about 10 seconds to switch between high and low, and it does not always do it. I used to have issues with it even lighting but after cleaning the contacts on the old switches I have not had any issues. Aiming the light is a little tricky - hard to aim properly and I am sometimes curious if I will get pulled over for it. I would never go back to the standard bulb and will get one of these for every bike I get. Good luck with it!

I had the same problem with the shifting, so I took out the reserve lighting unit.

It's what causes the change from hi/lo to be slow. The HID only draws 35 watts, and I think this doesn't go well with the RLU.

Just wondering if anyone has used this HID kit?

I just want to make sure I get the proper one before I order.

                Thanks,

                  Opinions?

I'm interested in this too. I put a silver ultra bulb in my bike and it is an improvement but I still overrun the headlight on back roads at the speed limit.
I was thinking of putting a light bar on the bike but this would be a much cheaper fix if it works. I'd like to give me and the furry creatures the chance to avoid each other.

I have noticed 2 different types of HIDs. One uses halogen for the hi beam. The other uses a reflector. Any recomendations on which one to use?

                      Thanks again all.

The XS11 reflector was designed for a standard H4 lamp. The H4 lamp has one filament closer to the base and the other filament further away from the base on the same axis.

I would not recommend the Halogen one. It only has a greater brightness benefit for the low beam and actually a diminished high beam brightness and aim. The Halogen bulb is located next to the HID lamp and not on the same axis.

There are two types of HID lamps that use a mechanical movement of the lamp. I prefer the telescoping type that uses a small solenoid in the base of the lamp to push and pull the bulb into the high and low positions. The solenoid moves the bulb not just the built in shield and reflector.

The telescoping type most closely emulates the standard 2 filament H4 lamp as far a beam spread is concerned for both Hi and low beams. Both much brighter, the High beam reaches very far into the dark.

The other mechanical type, uses a magnetic field to tilts the bulb into a position that does not use the same optical path that a standard H4 Lamps uses, but does provide a high and low beam from the one HID lamp.

In my opinion the best one is the telescoping.
