  • confused with vacuum diagram

OK so after looking at what I have there and the diagram I am lost!
I'm working on a 78 xs1100e with 45k. Do all XS's have the three way T's in the fuel lines?
In the vacuum diagram it looks as if on the bottom there is a unit (other that the petcocks from the tank.) What is this and Should my bike have one?

I've got the vacuum lines hooked to the rear side post on petcocks, Fuel lines running from other side of petcock to opposite side carbs and I have another line going to the front of my #2 carb from. I have no whims about recreating like the one in diagram but I can't seem to locate the bottom valves that it shows. Thanks as always for the advice and help.

Sounds like you're looking at the diagram for a Special. You have a standard model. The petcocks are diffrerent, routing is different and that other 'unit' is not used on a standard model.

Fuel lines sound right, vacuum lines from petcocks go one each to the center intake manifold nipples. Outer intake manifold nipples get capped. Vacuum line from carb#2 goes to vacuum advance unit located under the left side engine cover, the one with 'YAMAHA' written on it.

      Thanks a million!!!

Whew..... Just when I was almost done I was thinkin it was going to get hard again. Thanks with that said the connections check out. Went through the carbs and gave them each a new kit, adjusted floats with a poormans plastic cutout of the depth. On Prime it primes and on ON and Res it doesn't drip or leak while not running. I'll give her a new Batt tonight and cross my fingers I'm guessing its gonna be a fun forth of july this year! Again thanks for the help and advice.

Only thing there that looks possibly problematic is the #2 carb, the vacuum line to your petcocks should go to the intake manifold vacuum ports right next to the head. The one on your no 2 carb outlet goes to your timing vacuum advance.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
