  • steering head bearings

just got my frame back from getting powder coated. The guy thought he would be able to save the races but apparantly were damaged when sandblasing.

So I'm needing to replace the bearings - the cheapest I can find is $40 for the set at cyclerecycle, but that sounds pretty high to me. The guy who did my frame thought I should be able to get them for $20 or less (the amount he took off the bill).

Has anyone found these cheaper elsewhere?

There was a bit about steering head bearings and crossing them to Timken bearings somewhere on this site, but darned if I can find it anymore.

Search around. The Timken part #'s were here and they were good. I used them.

    Good luck.

thanks guys. I searched around last night for 'steering head bearings' with no luck. Just did a search for 'timken' and found exactly what I needed.

        MUCH APPRECIATED!

(This bike has been sitting in pieces in my garage for over a month now. Hopefully I can remember how everything goes back togehter)
