Proper Voltage of XJ Oil Level Sensor?

I am tracking down an issue with my oil light staying on, can someone please let me know what the correct output voltage for the XJ oil level sensor is? I am reading 3.5 to 4 volts when the motor is running. Thanks!

Might there be a test procedure in the shop manual? JAT.

      Figured it out

I experiemented some today and determined that grounding out the sensor causes the oil warning light to go out. The 4 volts was supplied by the cluster. So basically this tells me I need replace or clean the oil sensor. Thanks for the help!

Careful, that sender only needs to be hand tight.

        XJ Computerized Monitor manual says

"When installing the engine oil level sender, be sure to use your hand to tighten the bolt. If it is tightened using compressed air, sender malfunction may occur."
