  • Headlight Woes

Ok, I replaced my steering head bearings. Now I have no headlight at all. Nothing else was disturbed. Now I have no Hi nor Low beam. I have looked in the headlight bucket and nothing seems to be amiss. Anyone have any great ideas as to where I should be looking? I know the search thing but damn there are so many hits with that.

Ya know what? I never even checked them fuses. I will in the morning but I ask why would a fuse blow replacing fork seals. But definatly a good idea and they will be checked.

Don't know-maybe you touched something in the headlight bucket-just a thought.

Been thru the headlight bucket and have found nothing loose. I will have to get the multimeter out and check stuff out but any suggestions will help. thanks

            Hi Rasputin,
it's dark in there, didja inadvertently swap a dark brown wire for a black one?
A thing to try is run a temporary ground wire from the bucket back to the battery.

Thanks guys. I actually never took any wires apart when changing the bearings. All I have done so far is check connections in the headlight bucket. I did try to check a few things out with my multi-meter but it batteries are low.
This morning when I head for the garage I will try your suggestions. A fuse may have fried or the ground may not be sufficient. Both valid ideas. I also will go get me some new batteries for the meter and maybe I can track down something.

Fuses all looked good. Then I used the multi-meter on them and found the fuse was indeed gone. If you held it just so it would show good but then jiggle it a bit and it was not. Just goes to show you cant always see a bad fuse by eye. All is good again. Nice afternoon for a ride too.

When you did the work did you pull the handlebars? If so check the handlebar wire connections under the tank, they are real easy to pull loose and they don't have to be unpluged all the was to cause problems.
