Thanks for the advice, I can't seem to nail how much oil is used in the transmission, all the talk is about having a measuring tool?
So in the rear drive shaft/final drive, is there no oil???

Went to photobuckets and downloaded 2 photos, but I wqas stuffed if I could work out how to get them on this site...

      Cheers

There is a tech tip on making the tool, gives the measurements. I just used a piece of paper rolled up and used it as a dipstick to measure the depth to match those given in how to make the tool.

The final drive gets the same hypoid oil as the middle drive. Most use synthetic for these two drives. One end of the tool in the "how to" is to measure the final drive oil.

Once you have pics on photobucket, hover on pic and you will get a drop down with links under it, find the IMG link and copy it from there and paste it directly into your post.

Once you load the pic in photobucket, when you hover your mouse over the picture a number of "links" show up under the picture. I do not recall what all are there but one says "IMG". Highlight it, then hit control and C for copy. Com here to your post, hit return to be on a blank line and hit control V for paste and hit return to finish the line. when you post the picture will appear. Once your on photobucket it will be very clear and easy.

                    Hi XSrunner,
The guy I got it from was older"" built like a brick sh%t house, bald head, with a Merv Hughes moe, but he never touched the bike, as he wanted to restore it, but things went pair shaped in the relationship, when I had a look at it, his garage was full of packed boxes, as he was moving out, hence the good price.

I down loaded a PDF and rember seeing something about 4.5 litre oil changes, I have alot to learn about these bikes, but I was under the impression that the motors are basically the same e.g. all hold 3 litres of oil??? I've pulled more apart tonight and did a compression test, I'm liking mucking around with this bike, and commenting as I go, as to the things I could do to it?
                    Cheers

The oil capacity is marked near the filler hole. It says 3000cc if I remember correctly. I know that 4 quarts will fill it just a little too full after a new filter is installed.

                          Hi Lou,

Very nice bike "Our" bikes take a little more oil than the US versions as we have the oil cooler installed, capacities are 3.0 litres for an oil change, 3.7 liters including a filter and 4.2 litres on a dry engine..

When you need to look at the wiring, HERE is a link to a colour wiring diagram. I made it for the Sport model but it also identical to the Aussie RH model.

                          Have fun,

                          Shappers.

                            Hey Shapper,
Thanks for the info, I drained the oil and got nearley 6 litres out of it, but could have been due to fuel from the carbs overflowing into the crank, I'm surprised that the bike has a low fuel warning light, but doesn't have a low voltage/charge light indicator???

                            Cheers
