Do you not see much difference between the Progressives and your old shocks? Why did you replace your old shocks? I'm contemplating replacing mine. They seem to be ok but I think I should be able to improve the ride & handling with newer/better ones.Robert

Robert,
My problem was with the shocks bottoming out, even on the highest preload. The shocks were also not damping very well. I had a good ride today around town, and was happy with the Whipmes as compared to the OEM.'81 XS11 Midnight Special

XS1100 Midnight Spcl. Shocks
I kept the OEM shocks on my "81 Midnight and changed over to Progressive springs. (Big Help). The new springs are grade of silica steel while OEM are just carbon music wire. I weigh 205 and ride hard and haven't bottomed
yet.
