  • water in midgear?

I just want to ask if anybody has got water in there midgear before? I was riding with Bikerphil and had him ride my bike. I thought my bike was clunking into gear funny. He said it did'nt feel right so we tore in down and found chocolate milk in the mid. The breather hose was pointed down. The fluids in the final drive were fine. We took a 200 mile ride the week before and after seeing that I almost s..t my pants cause we were going 90mph for like 60 miles both ways

Out of curiosity, when was the last time the fluid was changed? I think I recall a post here about where or how to place the middle drive vent line.

Yup, that hose is supposed to be routed UP, clipped next to the rear tank mount. BUT, unless you were in deep water, there shouldn't be much moisture in there. I'm with Paul, probably REALLY old fluid and LOTS of short trips. On short trips the middle won't get hot enough to let the moisture burn off, just like in any other crankcase.
