Yep, as I understand it Randy has it right. Watts is the total energy used. Volts X Amps = approximately watts for single phase power. For three phase power the square root of three applies. Lets not try and apply power factor though. I hate when they poor alot of head on my beer.
A circuit draws a certian amount of energy or watts. You can increase one of the two, volts or amps, and the other will decrease proportionately to provide the same energy.
