  • tires?

I would really like to find some white wall tires for my xs1100. As it seems they have fallen out of fashion I am having a hard time. Any suggestions on where to look?

You have lots of on-line tire suppliers. Here is a couple to get you started. I don't know which brand carries white walls, though.

White letter tires can cut for whitewalls, It used to be done a lot on cars. If you had an old set you could give it a try. Sounds nuts But remember when everybody ran airshocks and fat tires on their cars? We were makin' 'em every time we rounded a big curve with too many people in the back seat! haha My dad is an old car nut and used to like that sort of thing and I remember something about using a lathe setup for just that, sorta' like when they used to "true' tires. But you might be able to just buy them anyway. Prolly not the kind of tire your XS really deserves tho, more like some old time harley thing. Good luck! Send us a pic if you get it together. It would be a very unique looking XS and that in itself is a VERY good thing. IMHO Garry

Hey Fusionking, I ride around in your neighborhood all the time. I live about an hour south of Camdenton. I love Ha Ha Tonka and the roads between here and there!

Hey riverchub, we could ride dude! Exactly where are you? Just last monday I took 54 down to 73 then on in to Buffalo. Then 32 for awhile untill I took a little side trip over to a buddies place in Charity. Then got back on 32 on in to lebanon & rode 5 on home. All by my lonesome! It really was a nice ride tho, sort of a shakedown run so to speak. Prolly could'a swung by. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! Garry

yea. I live in springfield. I am always looking for someone to ride with. Last weekend I rode out 66 (96) to Kansas by myself. Do you have icq? if not e-mail me. we will go for a putt when I get some new tires. I have all but given up on the white walls though, it seems no one makes them for the rear.

I guess if I gotta ask what icq is i prolly ain't got it! I was born in Springfield & my folks moved here when I was 2. My younger brother works at Hardy's truck parts on west Chestnut so I get down that way from time to time. Garry

Thank you wpc. I have found whitewalls, like the Avon venom x for my front tire. I can not find one for the rear (130/90-17). I may end up putting the venom x on front and then what ever matches it on back, I am not sure yet though because the avon web site doesn't go back to '80.

Fusionking, I am not originally from here. I just moved here 3 years ago from Little Rock. I have met some good people and a few to ride with, however, it is often hard to get people motovated to get away.

Hey Riverchub maybe you could find a 16'' then you could run a wheel off a XS Special. Garry (PS my wife works for a company based out of Little Rock)

Oh really? what company, would I know it? My wife works in insurance (the leaches). The specials have a 16" rear tire? If I had that I could get the Avon gangsters! Maybe next time. I am hoping to get a new scoot this summer. if that happens I am going to go crazy on my xs. I have big plans for customizing it. Putting a 16" wheel on it may fit in to those plans.
For now, I have decided on the Avon venom x for the front and the Avon road runner on back. This will be a white wall on front and a black wall on the rear. I hope it doesn't look too funny. As soon as they come in, I was thinking of riding up to the Schell-Osage Wildlife area. Maybe you will come along?

Sounds pretty good, I'll be out of the state tho untill the 14th or so. When will you get new skins? Don't have a map handy so I'm not sure where you're going but it would about have to be west of me so sounds great. I see 16" wheels for specials on ebay a lot, dirt cheap, even sometimes with no bids at all. There has also been a lot of discussion lately somewhere on this site about wheel interchange between standards & specials. It didn't seem very hard to do and it would certainly look good . By the way she works for an auto parts chain called Crow-Burlingame for about 10 years now & they have been nothing but good to us, great people. They sell under the name Bumper to Bumper. Garry
