  • 24 tooth 5th gear

I was wandering around in Mike's XS and noticed this in the engine section.

    Part #05-0870

A 24 tooth vs stock 23 tooth gear.

Is this an option to the 750FD conversion for someone who has to get into the tranny to fix a second gear problem?

    Has anyone tried?

    Just wondering.

Guess I should have mentioned it was a 24 tooth 5th gear.

    Sorry.

      Hey Latex,

That gear is the totally wrong shape/design, OUR 5th gear looks more like the one BELOW that one, the 05-0857, however, OUR 5th gear already has 30 Teeth, so 24 wouldn't do any good, it would LOWER the speed, or raise the RPM for the same speed....IF it could fit, but it won't!

Sorry, either get a 17" rear wheel, or the 750 FD swap, or enjoy the rpms!

        So it goes.

I should have looked into the manual and counted some teeth before posting.

Looked like a way to keep the low end revs and hit the freeway with a good cruzin' gear.
        Sorry
