    Ray,

I didn't notice the rear brake! Good catch! Since I've never seen an XJ frame without the tank and seat, all I could tell was that it wasn't an XS1100.

      Thanks D.R....

I saw that axle/fork config, and knew the rear FD area wasn't lookin' right, either. Pics were kinda dark, and hard to see. Covers don't look right, especially around the starter. Only one front rotor, too. Haven't seen many of the smaller Maxim's. First glance fooled me!

It looks like a Maxim 650. Spiral spokes, shaft drive, drum rear brake, single front disk & that cylindrical thing between the cylinders and the starter.

Never mind, I see that Maxim-looking seat grab bar.

I noticed right away that alternator or oil tank looking thing behind the cylinders, that and that is no 1100 middle drive or tanny section!

Does look like the 650 maxim posted.

A 750 Seca would have dual front discs. I am reasonably sure that it is a 650 Maxim. The Vin would tell us. An '82 XJ 650 Maxim VIN would start with 5N8. I am sorry but can't locate the rest of my list right at the second, will keep looking.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

                      Richard,
Thanks for that list, it is better than the one I had. Good point on the YICS. I could not make out in the pics if it had it or not.
