"remove the sparkplug cap, trim it back about 1/4 inch and reattach"

Hi guys, I want to try the above fix I found in the forums on my 79SF. However I can't figure out how to remove the wires from the caps, any suggestions?

The caps unscrew from the wire. IF YOU HAVE THE STOCK COILS.

yeah i'm all stock, i'm having problems with cyl 4 not firing as much as it should, i'm hoping this will be a quick fix and I dont have to do the mikesXS coil upgrade. Had some major misfiring yesterday after a visit to the car wash, i'm thinking my wires might be bad and the coil upgrade is required.

When I started my restoration, the wires were so dried they crumbled to pieces. I did the 'new wires in old coils fix'. Been running fine for 5 yrs now..oh, I probably jinxed it right there...

I used the 90 degree caps, the plugs are angled anyway. Enough of an angle. I did use a longer cap for 2&3. IIRC, I got them from CRC2online. Look in "ELECTRICAL' then "COILS" and then "COIL ACCESSORIES"
