    Factory Fairing Help -

    Hey Guys -

I really need some help finding a replacement windshield for my factory fairing. I have repaired and reinforced cracks, rewired it, repainted it, and mounted it.... I only have a bit to go: new locks/latches on the storage lids, a stereo, and a pair of speakers..... and oh yeh - A Replacement Windshield!!!!

I foolishly believed it to be a Vetter, until I looked closely at the Vetter windshields - not the same, no crescent at the bottom edge. After doing a little online searching I read that it might be a Pacifico - rebadged by Yamaha. This fairing is larger (wider and depper) than the Vetters and Pacificos that I have seen images of.

My fairing has a Yamaha badge at the PIN connector, square headlight, rectangular turn signals (same lenses as on the rear of bike), and rect illuminated reflectors on the sides. The cockpit portion has a radio mounting space top center, speaker cut-outs at 4 and 8 o'clock below, and a hard lid storage compartment at either side.

My windshield is 24.25" tall, has two pop-vents, 9 mounting holes, and a plastic clip / brace halfway up the right side to hold the top of the telescoping antenna....

I hate that I can't post a picture at the moment, but my camera batteries are shot.... anyone know where I can find a replacement??????

I know a guy that runs a bone yard, he mentioned when I asked him about a fairing on an old xs750 that he could get a replacement windshield for it, if I remember, I'll stop in and ask him where to go for a new one. have a nice day and ride safe

I've seen Bob Jones many a time make replacement windscreens from Lexan and a heat gun. This works really swell and you could make you a short tinted one also for daytime changes.

              Fairing Screen -

Hey - Thank You bikerphil and DiverRay..... that is exactly the one that I need. I just wish it cost less than $170.00!!!!! Oh well, it is only money, right?

And thank you for your E-Bay finding acof911.... that one is close, and a lot cheaper, but the bottom edge on my screen has a taper. The one you found is for a Pacifico - almost the same dimensions, but not quite.

For a big difference in price, I am tempted to buy the "almost" and try to re-shape the bottom slightly. Of course, experience tells me that doing so would only set me back a couple of weeks in time and effort + the cost of buying the correct one after I destroy the cheaper one in an effort to save money... then again, where would the challenge be in just buying the right part the first time?

              Thanks, Guys -
