  • Elbow grease

It rained here last weekend and I was bored so I decided to do the ol upper body workout (50 now and ain't gettin any younger) with some WD-40, 400, 600, & 800 grit sandpaper followed by some Mother's polish. I think they came out pretty good for not using a buffing wheel but then I didn't want to get them so shiny that I had to wear sunglasses. BTW, I did remove the pieces from the engine, can't really get down on my knees anymore. Also, repainted the tank, side covers and seat back. I stuck with the army green. For some crazy reason I like it on this bike!

Question: Will the Mother's polish keep the covers shiny or, is there something else other than a clear coat finish?

    Hey Mstic2000,

VERY NICE work!! The polish will keep them looking good with just a little elbow grease vs. the Extreme grease you have to apply to get them that way. Clear coat tends to actually dull it a bit, and it's hard to get it to stick to the finish once it's nice and shiny, so just polish it occasionally!

Thanks! It's always nice to get positive feedback. SWMBO thinks I'm nuts but she was impressed...
