    Will a '79 XS engine fit in a '82 XJ frame?

    I want to replace the engine on my '82 XJ11.
    The tranny went and I don't want to become enough of a gear-head to fix it. (old and lazy)
    I have found an engine from a 79 XS11 but need to know if it will fit in my '82 frame before I buy it.
    Does anyone know if the bolts line up and if there are any other compatibility issues I should be thinking of?

      I don't know if it will fit or not you will need the coils and black box for the 79 motor though, unless you upgrade from the vac. type advance on the 78-80 models.
