Where can you buy progressive fork springs for a 79 xs1100? I've looked all over the place. We does it involve to switch from air/oil to just oil?

I just had my forks rebuilt and had them toss in progressive springs at the same time. Most suspension companys can get the progressive springs for you. My understanding is you don't need the air after installing progressives. Once I get mine back on the road I'll test it with and without air to see if there's a difference.

The part number for the progressive front springs is 11-1110. Here is a link to an online company that sells them. http://www.motodepot.com/product_list.php?cid=197 . This is about the right price. Mine was about $10 cheaper about three years ago.... On the special, you WILL need a "spacer". This is just a bit of PVC or aluminum cut to an exact length for each side. I think the PVC would be easier to get, and easier to keep exact with a belt sander. You WILL get a very good installation guide that will walk you through everything. They ARE a good spring, just use the proper oil, and the PROPER AMOUNT! It can get "bumpy" if you have too much oil in the forks!Last edited by DiverRay; 05-15-2009, 10:27 AM.Ray Matteis
