I finally got around to puting the Standard trees on my SPecial frame, with the Special forks. The sidecar rig handles HUGELY better now, I can't thank you guys enough for your input on which fork legs to use with which trees for best sidecar handling. I only wis I had done this 30,000 miles ago. FUN!!!

I think the best part is the inward smirk you feel at the thought that you made the modification for ~$40 in used parts rather than the poor bastard with another make of bike who laid out ~$800 for a Steerite conversion to do the same thing.

Excellent point. I had been building a leading link but am stopping that project completely. No point in going through all that work even.

Hi Lunatic,
don't get me wrong, a leading link or an Earles fork is far more rigid than a tele-fork and can be built with as little trail as you fancy. If you have the skills and the machinery to build yourself one for the cost of the materials rather than buying a professionally manufactured one you will end up with a far stronger fork without laying out ~$2,500. OTOH, if you are happy with the el-cheapo fix, keep on riding and grinning.
