  • Spark plug question

The plugs that are on my bike have a screw where the plug wires connect. The plugs that I bought have the nipple end. Do I need different plugs (possible) or do I need new spark plug boots?

You should be able to thread that nipple off the top of the plug. I have only ever seen one type of plug where the nipple was fixed to the plug. If they do not move pretty easy you "might" have that type.

Lately the ngk plugs ive been buying,
the nut on the top is srewed on xtra tight by the manufacturer, you need two pairs of pliers to undo them.

The guy at the auto store said, theyve been doing it this way because of complaints of the nut vibrating loose and that most applications now require the nut on the plug, where as our bikes the nut isnt required.

just dont grab the ceramic with pliers,

just underneath that nut you can grab hold of the post with wire cutters, the nut can be undone by pliers,
if you undo the nut alone with pliers, the nut and the post will unscrew from the plug, you can just screw the post back in but i didnt like the thought of the post coming away from the plug.

The tips came off no problem. The old plugs looked old...but in good shape. I'm going to double check the spark on each line tomorrow. The wires and plug ends seem to be in good shape but the rubber spacers are cracking. Any suggestions on replacements?
