  • needing new Petcocks

Hey gang. I just bought my XS11 last month and got a bad suprise the other day(after a new battery and front tire). Someone plugged a rusted through hole with putty and painted the bike before I got it. So when I put 94 Octane in it it ate right through it and started peeing down my leg.

So I went to the local bike graveyard and BAM no XS11 tanks. I did find one that fits the bike (It's supposedly off an '80 750 special) though till I can get mine reworked or a new one( if there is such a beast).

Now here's what's keeping me from riding. The original petcocks aRE TOO BIG for the special tank. Anyone have any ideas where to get new petcocks without getting raped???? Any help would be great.

    Thx,
    Cuda

Denniskirk sells 'petcock adaptors', that are a flat plate with two bolt holes and one pipe thread hole in the middle. It bolts right up where the petcock would. Then you can get any kind of spigot that you want. If a 3/8 NPT isn't too big, you can buy a generic AMF era Harley petcock with reserve tube for about 12-15 bucks new (china).

IF 3/8 is too big, you can still pipe up a tube to the plate. If you don't mind no reserve, your local lawnmower shop can set you up with a fuel valve and a filter.

        yes, plug the lines.
Golf tees work very well. For a nicer look, they sell rubber tube plugs at most auto parts stores.
