Bead sealant

My drag slicks rarely leaked at all. I was usually letting air out, between rds as they heated up. I could go out in the shed and see if they are holding air now, they have been in there for several years now...

Of course mine have tubes in them!

What brand are you running?

We've ran mickey thompson, hoosiers, bfg's and all of them leaked somewhat. Hoosiers seemed to not leak as bad, and M/T the most.

We've had to let air out also, but during summer months. During colder/normal weather we usually have to add some air.

My slicks that are in storage look aired up, but they aren't. as soon as you press in on them, you can tell they are flat.

Just curious as to what brand, etc you are using so can compare

I run Mickey Thompson ET drags. 11.5"x28" on Cragar SS rims, using tubes.

I was asking because the rear wheel is stained black on the inside and the front is not. I do not remember using bead sealant in the past but perhaps there is something I missed on the rear rim and the PO needed to use sealant. I was going to mount the tires and leave them un-inflated before applying the clear coat to the rims so it would not be damaged by the tire mounting process. However it's only 5 degrees here today so no painting will be carried out in any case. If bead sealant is the safer way to go and appears to have been used in the past, I best do the painting first and have the tires mounted at the garage and ask them to use sealant.
