idles a little high, was twenty five hundred and i got her down to fifteen but won't go below without stalling out. any tips would be appreciated
Rob - Nice looking ride. Have you adjusted the mixtures and synched the carbs? Two tools I find indispensible when working on mine - a colortune plug and a good set of synch gauges.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

My first guess is the Hardly Ableson emblems on the end of the grips!
My REAL guess is carb sync, or a vacuum leak. BUY a set of gauges, and sync the carbs yourself. It will cost less than $100 for a GOOD set, with about a two hour learning curve.(DO NOT forget the fan too keep the engine cool while running!!) Most dealers want about $100 to $150 to sync the carbs, and a LOT of the "mechanics" are younger than the bike, and do NOT know "carbs" as all they have seen is FI bikes!

i will definitely ride like i'm invisible. and i am unfortunately on a very limited budget, if you know anyone in the chicago area who might have a synching guage and knows how to use it i would be willing to go out to them and learn how to use one along with maybe a small fee.

                          Hey ZR...

One of our members here, Acof911 (Andy) has a kick starter listed in his parts list of things he's selling on ebay. (Had it as of Fri) He might know about a tool kit. He has it listed here under XS1100XJ1100 parts for sale, last page. Another member to try would be Andreasweisse. One more might be Cobia. If they're dry, try ebay. Hope it helps ya.
