Have a midnight special, 81, motor is shot, not much left on it, but was trying to save the pick-up coils, the clymer manual calls for "two screws" to be removed, it don't have screws it has what looks like a nut inside an aluminum housing, 4mm or 4.5 dosn't work, and they were the closest size I had, just wondered if it takes a special tool. Thanks, 'Dog
do i need a special tool?

You have to drill the heads out. Yamaha used tamper proof bolts on the 80 and up motors so the timing couldn't be altered (EPA).2H7 (79) owned since '89

Theres also 3 screws that hold the assembly
in, you can remove these 3 screws and the guts of it
will come away.
