The great carb jetting mystery

I am pretty sure you are on the right track Craz. Everything I have read up on says the mains only affect the top 1/8 of the range, and everything else just squeezes it down from there. I dont think we get the needles all the way up at full throttle until 5-6k rpm even at full throttle.

Maybe thats why the dynojet kit works so well...?

Makes the holes bigger.... DUH!

I guess it makes he slides more responsive.

All this about jetting has my curiosity up, been working on an 80 special, got it running smooth, but drags a little when picking up speed, idles great, but running quiet warm, it has 4-1 headers, also dosn't have the top-end it should have, of course I am comparing it to my 79 standard, but I can be cruising around 50-55, shift to 4th, and try to pass another vehicle, and it takes awhile to get around it, on my standard, i'm around it and gone, in no time, I am pretty sure it is not getting enough fuel, so I thought about trying the 137.5 out of my standard, any thoughts? DO NOT put the 137.5 jets into the newer carb. Your plugs WILL be black in no time. You probably need 120 or 122.5 mains. The no power seems to be lack of fuel, especially if it occurs after just a few seconds of throttle. I would also check the float height, as that will make a difference on fuel economy and power.
