Found a 1980 Yamaha 1100 Midnight for sale for 2K

Found 1981 Yamaha 1100 Midnight special, 21K Miles, for 2k
What is a Good price for this model?
Anything I should watch for?
What Should I ask the owner about?

The Bike look to be in Good shape.
The only problem I see is a missing Horn button. How Hard is this to fix?
I have not talked to the owner yet.

I would make sure it runs. Have the owner start it, and if he'll let you, take it for a test ride (start very slow, checking the brakes) and run it through the gears. At least rev it up and listen for any hesitation or unexpected noises. Look for exessive rust and make sure the guages all work. If all of that is good, I would offer $1500-1800 and see if he baulks. $2K would not be horribly unreasonable for a nice, running MNS. If it's not running, that's another story. I paid $500 for mine, and have put another $500 in parts into it to get it running nicely. Depends on whether you're up to wrenching on it. These older bikes need some TLC to keep them running, so be ready to get your hands dirty, even if it IS running.

You should get a real nice bike for $2000 in my opinion.Also make sure it is a
midnight special,I have seen a few regular xs's painted black and the owner claiming its a midnight.
These bikes can go from $100 to $3500,it just depends on condition.And of course what a guy is willing to pay.

I picked up my Midnight Special September of last year for $1,200. This is a bike I rode the 100 miles home, 21K miles, needs a little cosmetic work, but runs VERY well. I had to put tires on it, as they were old and it felt like I was riding on ice.
