      Hey Lee,

I can't remember if you're making a bobber or not, but there are some essentially plug and play aftermarket ones by MikesXS. The Tach will need to be wired into the (-) side of one of the ignition coils, but that's it, the speedo will just connect to the speedo cable. You may need to play with the wires for the lights, but that shouldn't be too difficult. Just make sure you find the Electronic TACH, not a mechanical one!! They are smaller gauges, so some handlebar clamps/mounts work well for these! And they are better priced than many others you may find!

Again, my CRS is acting up, I can't remember who posted about putting these on their machine, Da-Bubble comes to mind, but I think there were a couple of other Bobbers recently, like XSCHop, a search should reveal their threads and their notes on getting them mounted and wired up!

Yes, speedos are mechanical, I suggested MikesXS for sourcing because the XS650 uses the same/similar 19" front wheel, same drive ratios for speedos!

              I found their website: http://www.trailtech.net/vapor.html
It looks like it will work just fine, tach sensor wraps 5 times around the spark plug wire, or inline with the coil negative wire. I didn't read the entire specs, they are more for off road vehicles, but if they are durable enough for trail bikes, ATV's, etc, they should be fine for an XS11. Just need to see about the tach adjustment/tuning needed for multicylinder, but our machines are really like 2 twins stuck together side by side!

Can you use any after market electronic tach? Do all motorcycles use the Wasted spark system? If not, then you are going to be reading 2x rpm
