    low fuel light / reserve

Up until recently, whenever the low fuel light on my Special came on I would turn the petcocks to reserve and the low fuel light would go out (presumably because more gas was now available). Since I had my gas tank removed to synch the carbs, now the low fuel light stays on even after I turn to reserve. Any thoughts why the change?

FWIW, my low fuel light never went out by turning my petcocks to reserve.

Low fuel light just reads level in the tank. When it comes on, you are very close to running out of (main) fuel. Switch to reserve. The light will stay on till you fill up the tank past the reserve level again . . .. Sometimes will go off for a moment or two while gas slops around . . .

Maybe you had a loose wire . . . removing/installing the tank fixed it?

Anyway . . . working as it should.

OK, so apparently it is working correctly now and before it was an anomaly. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

          Having 2 specials,

I think the bike thougth it was a standard, so the light would go back out, (bigger tank)...

but it has now realized it's a special, so the light stays on almost all the time
