So I get the neighbor to help me unload the bike today.
I push it in the garage.
And I want to hear it run.I turn it over and it wont fire.
So I pull the bottom off the air box and spray starting fluid in it and commence to turn it over.It back fires a couple times and then flames.
I think thats the fastest I've run in years.I did the OJ jump over stuff and sprint outside for the hose.I got it out pretty quick. So I dont think there is any real damage.I got the top of the airbox loose but I'll have to remove the carbs tomorrow to get it out.
The carbs didnt get burned though,so thats good.
Wow thats more excitement than I wanted.
Both my other bikes were right next to it too.

I once lit the engine of my old Ford truck on fire when I was adding oil while parked in front of a gas pump. I missed the fill hole, oil went down the block and WOOSH! There were some pretty scared faces looking at me by the time I got the fire out.
I know this, because Tyler knows this.

Well the dumbest part is ,back around 1990 I was working on a gs750 and it caught fire.I got a good butt chewing from the fire chief for that one as it caught half the garage on fire.
So I'm now usually pretty safety wise.Just had a lapse in judgement I suppose.

Good on you to not panic and get things under control quickly. I would not be happy if a fire were to break out in my garage. It would go up in a hurry with all the crap, paint and chemicals I have in there.
I have a fire extinguisher just inside the house at the door to the garage. It's one of those small household types for small fires. I really should get a bigger one and mount it in the garage.

a couple years back I had been helping a friend work on his 'Merkur'....we were making a blockbuster run one night in the car and all the sudden it lost all power and came to a stop and there was a glow and smoke coming from under the hood.....he sat there like "huh" i got out and told him to pop the hood. turned out that the car was on fire, so he preceded to call 911, mean while i grabbed a fountain drink cup and started getting water out of the ditch. by the time the dispatcher was asking where we were i had it out. and he said "oh, well we got it taking care of, thanks anyways!" and he hung up.

I knew a guy when I lived in Phoenix who was a mechanic. He was this short round guy who loved to drink. He was on his way home from work one night and stopped at a light and his car caught fire under the hood,it was one of those little VW pickups. He got out of the car and looked at it and walked into the bar
that was right there on the corner and called the fire department. Then he walked up to the bar and sat down and ordered a beer.
When I heard that I couldnt believe it.LMAO
