  • Rear hub disassembly

I'm getting ready to have teh rear tire changed. I have a new right rear bearing and new seals. The right side seal is easy, but i have a Yamaha part 93102-25360 seal that I don't know where it goes. My bike has no seal on the left side.

    Here's the rear drive.

Here's the rear wheel on the left side.
No seal on this side. Also I broke the plastic guard,

should I worry about this? Last question, can I, should I, how do I remove the unobtanium left rear bearing for cleaning and repacking with grease? my inner races seem to be two separate pieces that will just slide out if I pull on them. I really don't wanna mess it up, my bike only has 13XXX miles on it, should I bother with trying to find one to replace it before I reinstall the wheel?

You can fix that guard with epoxy.I dont believe that bearing is servicable, but I could be wrong. If it works and doesnt feel rough or choppy I would run it till it wears out.It should roll smooth.HTH. Rick

That does not look like the correct bearing. The correct one has a seperate seal that seats in the wheel hub, and a small collar that rides inside the seal lip. the one you have appears that the outer race of the bearing fits full to the edge of the wheel hub. If that's true, that bearing may have been substituted because the originals are very rare, nearly unobtainable. Try to read the numvers on the bearing when you get it out, I'll bet it's an NA6904, 31 mm wide. The original is an NA5904, 23mm wide.

You're probably right Randy, when I did my front seals and bearings I found that the spacer was in backwards. That tells that someone's been into the bike, a doofus. When I find work like that that tells of an incompetent mechanic I think the worst.

thanks randy, that guide showed me what I needed, the only thing I couldn't do was get that left side bearing out, so I just took out the center race, repacked it with bearing grease and put in my new right side bearing and seals all around. I figured that if i kept after the left side bearing I'd just bugger it up.
