Got it runing, sounds good exsept for one thing, seems to have alot of blow bye coming out of the crank case, this bike set for about 12 to 15 years without being run, think it will clear up or ya think it will need new rings?

Do a compression test then run some sea foam through her with a full tank of fresh gas followed by another compression test. That will give you some "quick" answers about rings / valves.

I had a 79 that smoked like a chiminey when I started it. I had nothing to lose so I dumped a 1/2 can of seafoam in the crankcase and let it run for 10 minutes. Thought the neighbors sould call the fire department account of the smoke. Anyway, after that I let it sit overnight and started it the next morning. NO smoke! Guessing that an oil ring was stuck. Changed the oil and didn't have any more problems with it.

It is not realy smoking out the tail pipe, just looks like steam comeing out of the over flow ( crank case vent ) blow by whats its called I beleave

Blow by is an indication of bad rings. As suggested by Rob, I would run a compression check. If you get one or more below about 125 psi, then put a tablespoon or two of oil in that cylinder, through the plug hole, turn the engine over by hand a couple times and rerun the compression check. If it gets better, then it is rings, if not it is in your valves. If all of them are between 128-156 (per Clymers) then seems like your alright.

My breather pipe was actually all but plugged with white goo form me running the bike for short periods to check things out and not fully warming it up when it was really cold out. I took the tube off and blew compressed air through it and it looked like...well...the John Belushi impersonation of a zit in animal house. Maybe your seeing a similar thing?

Did a compression check the other day.All 4 cylinders were fine. Will do a leak down test in the future. On the other message board i visit, they say that the stuff coming out of the breather is condensation & very normal. My 1999 ZRX has less than 3000 miles and also does it.I would be concerned with smoke coming out of the tailpipe before i would worry about the breather.

All seems well today, blow by not near as bad as yesterday, put sea foam in the gas tank, just keep ironing out the wrinkels
