  • thinking about selling my midnight

anyone know the value of one of these, I got it over the last fall season and put it in my parents garage for the winter riding it here and there but now i mostly ride my normal xs11 so i figured if its worth it i'd sell it, got offers but nothing worth what i paid and put into it.
only things wrong that I see are it needs a rear break disk and the blinkers are on the fritz, aside from that it seems to run and ride fine. it has 24,300 miles on it right now

Not to be flip about it, but it's value is what someone is willing to pay. I have two that I ride and wouldn't sell them unless someone made a real nice offer. Do you want/ need to sell it or are you just interested in making some money?
If you want to sell it but want to ensure you get what yu think it's worth, set your price and stick to it. You can do the ebay thing with a reserve and if you don't hit it, no big lose right.
Keep an eye on there and you will see what bikes are going for. I have seen a couple midnights go recently for around 2,500... You may get more or less depending on how it loks and runs.

So how much do you have into it? These old bikes are a great FUN investment... but not a very good money investment. It's pretty tough to do anything to them to get them running and looking good, then try to get your money back. One old member here sold an XJ for over 7 thousand dollars on Ebay. Sounds great, right? Except for the fact that he'd put over TWELVE thousand into it.

As stated.. if you have anything much over $3k into the bike, you'll be hard pressed to make a buck on it. Not saying it could never happen.. there's always that someone out there that just HAS to have a certain bike. The problem is actually finding that person.

Not trying to rain on your parade.. it looks muddy enough there. Just stating the facts.

Nice bike... I just wish I had the funds to take it off your hands. I'd shoot for the $2000 range, maybe a bit higher, since it's running and ridable. Fix those two issues, and it'd be worth a bit more.

i guess it is worth what it is to me, if I fix those two problems i'd be right around 2000$ mark, if I sold it i'd just want back what I spent if possible. I rode it on a 3 hour trip 2 weeks ago so the thing does run good enough, these bikes are f-ing tanks I gotta say.
my plan was to fix it up, buff off the gold and kinda bob it out with a lower rear and mini ape's but now i gotta move to a condo complex and i'm not sure how's its gonna be haveing 2 bikes and working on one right in the lot, right now i have a private drive way, ok its mud but still its private and the oil just sinks in when spilled.
i already sold my xs400 for 1000$ so i figured this would be worth at least double it.
