  • XS triple tree on an XJ

So I switched over my triple tree to the XS, then installed some new bars and replaced the mirrors with an end bar set for the angle on the mirrors to be correct. The issue I am currently having is the gauge mount bracket. The XS and the XJ brackets are not the same, and my gauges can't fit into the XS mount holes. I know this has been done before, but I can't find it. What can I use to mount the gauges correctly?
1984 XJ1100 - 79 cams, XS850 FD, XS triple tree/euro cafe bars, hydraulic clutch, bar end mirrors, yamaha R1 rear mono-shock
    1972 CL350 - clubmans, Mike's XS coils/condenser, '98 Yamaha R1 rearsets (If I can find some at a decent price)

    Hey Rubin,

What's been done before is putting a 160 MPH speedo in the XJ's gauge casing. Did you use a Standard or Special Triple Tree? The standard has the ignition switch assembly holder built into the handlebar clamps top clamps, where as the Specials just have small U clamps. The ignition switch is bolted into the upper triple tree from below. Same for the gauges, there is a bracket that bolts UP into the upper TT that holds the gauges. You may need to make a bracket or adapter to fit the XJ's gauges so that they will mount onto the upper TT!

Take some photos to share when you figure it out and get it done!
