    Throttle issue

    Once again I must thank everyone for their great replies. With your advise I did finally see the right knob that adjusts the idle speed. And sure enough...as predicted I turned the WRONG two screws resulting in totally messing the sync up. Out West we call that an I.D.10.T error. So off I go to try to find a kit to re-sync the carbs. Or, maybe I will just pay my local bike mechanic to do it. Again...thanks for the great response. Hopefully I will be posting new words about some of the great rides I plan to take this Spring and Summer. Best to all...Kevin

      Hey Kevin,

      That's a big 10-4! BTW, you can take the carb off, and then do a bench synch...either using the breadstick tie method shown in the tech tips, OR..you can use the visual technique, turning the screws so that the butterfly just barely partially covers one of the 3 small pilot circuit ports on the upper inside edge of the engine side of the carbs, set them so that all 4 are at the same position, and you will be fairly close..or at least much closer than you probably are NOW, and it will run decently so you ride it until you can get it vacuum synched....see the tech tips and threads on different types of gauges, do it yourself/build yourself vs. purchased sets, etc.!!

        If you have over adjusted the synch screws to get an idle, there is a chance that at WOT a couple of the butterflies are opening TOO far, causing the carbs to hang open. I would suggest pulling the carbs and finding the reason fot the hang up before riding again. Also, instead of feathering the clutch and risking a catastrophic failure from overspeed, you might consider blipping the kill switch if it happens again.
