OK i was looking at a couple of threads and was wondering-My turn signals on the back are stock-my turn signals on the front are not.Would this cause the self canceling feature not to work?Anyone?Front are Lockhart Phillips.

If they are the standard type bulbs, probably not. Are you using the OEM flasher, cause if not, they won't work.

Using the original Nippondenso-spelling maybe off- flasher.Bulbs in my front signals are different than the rear. They work but don't cancel-would that make them not shut off on their own?

The reed switch in the speedometer could be bad. I'm not sure how to test it though. Is it the original type speedo?

Yes-took apart speedo and the wires looked new.I bid on a 160 mph speedo on e-bay.Would having mis-matched signals cause the self canceling function not to work?If i disconnected the fronts should the back cancel?

I don't think the signals themself would affect the cancelling. With the front disconnected, there wouldn't be enough load to get them to flash at all. IIRC, the reed switch can be tested by hooking an ohm meter to it's 2 wires and checking the reading. Then spin the front wheel and see if the reading changes. If no change, the switch is bad. Maybe a REAL electrical guru will chime in.

You should also check the if the self-cancelling unit is there. It's a black rectangular unit under the seat.

speaking of turn signals, left side works fine, right side lights up but don't blink.

Check ALL the grounds for your lights. You probably have a "loose" or bad ground wire, and you can't pull the amps needed to run the mechanical flasher.

                    turn cancelling unit

After everything else checked out, I went ahead and replaced the cancelling unit on mine to get the flashers to cancel again. I still have the old unit. Has anyone ever tried to open one of them up? Does anyone know how to test one to see if it is good/bad?

I checked the speedo wires-none broken.I took apart the switch on the handlebar to see if any broken wires-OK.Put dielectric grease on connections.Am currently looking at a unit from another site.
