I have wet sanded with ulta fine grit emry to remove the clearcoat, then Mothers original, then Mothers bilet. But I'm insane about that polishing crap.
Oh yeh, rubber gloves and fresh air aren't a bad idea too.

Can I assume that will work on cleaning up my rims? I've got some black stuff on there, not sure if it's tar or what but it's hard as all heck to get off.

        Polish

HEY DON I HAVE USED SEMI CHROME SINCE THE 60'S ON A RAG WITH YOUR FINGERS OR WHEEL ON A DRILL BUT FOR US CRAZY TURD POLISHERS I START BUY SANDING OUT THOSE MOLD IMPERFECTIONS WITH SAND PAPER SOMETIMES STARTING WITH 120 LIKE ON GRINDING MARKS ON FOOT PEG BRACKET AND MACHINE MARKS ON WHEEL SPOKES,AND TAKE THE SANDING DOWN TO 400 THEN POLISHING ROUGE ALL DEPENDS HOW NUTS YOU WANT TO GET AND THAT'S WHAT MY WIFE CALLED ME WHEN SHE CAUGHT ME POLISHING MY CENTER AND SIDE STAND SPRINGS BUT IT'S WORTH IT TO ME

I just cleaned up a set the other day. I used 1000 grit emery (wet) and polished with Original mothers. Worked well. Stay off the paint with the sandpaper. Scub that down with really soapy water and a stiff brush. That no touch wheel cleaner puts a nice shine on everything when done. NOT THE TRED.
