Thanks TC, I see Varnae posted about his issue which is what this was related to. I thought that cylinder looked awful deeply gouged for a bore kit to save them.

      bore kit

I finally got the bike together, and put plates on it. Well, I have to say it runs great, lots more power. How much of it is due to the bore kit I can't say. I am running 1978 cams, Keihin cr33 carbs, Jardine 4 into 1 headers with a straight thru glasspack in the megaphone, as well as the 1197 kit. It was a lot of work and $ to do the kit. I am glad I did it, now that it is all together. But if I had to do it all again, I don't know. I think if I had a good running engine I would just do the other mods, and not get into the internals. But it will spin the back wheel in second gear all the way to redline now. Has to be worth it on some level, plus I now have an engine that will probably outlast me.

Sounds awsome. Did you buy the carbs new or find a good deal? Not much else you can do to that motor. Good luck and enjoy.
