    Hey Walker,

Hate to tell you this, but it's the same place as the aftermarket speedos, MikesXS!

Regrettably, they don't have the extra wide type that it used on our later model machines, but at least you get new rubbers!

I was going to post on this the other day and didn't get around to it. I saw those, but didn't know if they'd fit. Awesome.

      Thanks guys.

That's okay, I'm over the whole speedo thing. For 8 bucks each I'll be happy to shop there.

        Thanks.

I put those Mike's XS foot peg rubbers on my XS650. They fell apart in short order. I bought new ones from YAMAHA. The ones from Mike's XS are fine if you don't ride the bike or buy new ones every year.

Thanks, that's worth knowing. No Yamaha dealers in this country have any in stock, or so they say. They tell me they can still be sourced from Japan but they would be some ridiculous price like 40 to 50 bucks (NZ) each by the time they got here. Bottom line for dealers here is there's no profit in stocking parts for old bikes when their aim is to try and sell new bikes.

Are you still looking for some foot peg rubbers?

Do the older style rubbers work on the newer style pegs or do I have to change out the pegs to use the older style?

                    OEM footrest covers

Genuine YAMAHA footrest covers are $11.22 each at www.boats.net

These are for the '80 & '81 Specials PN 3H5-27413-01-00

Why pay nearly double on eBay for an incorrect part? Here is the link I found after a brief search:

Thanks for the tip! I was just about to ask whether anyone knew where to find covers, and I saw your post.

Those Mikes XS covers are not great, and they dont fit the Special pegs that well, causing them to wear even faster. Better than nothing, but only just.

Everytime I've called Boats.net on old parts they list, they did not have them in stock... I wouldn't order without calling them first.

The parts when clicked on say that they are no longer available from Yamaha and cannot be bought.

You know the part number, so it's just a matter of finding the part. Somebody has what you need on the shelf. I had considered trying the covers for an early Venture. Has anyone here tried this?
