    750 middle drive

Does anybody know for sure if the 750/850 middle drive is the same as the 11? My guess it is but would like to know for sure before I add to my spare parts shelf. Thanks.

Yes and no. Some small modifications needed. Do a search and you'll find plenty of info.

Sorry. I thought you said final drive. I misread it. Not sure about the answer to the middle drive question.

I was wondering, Tim.. lol. I thought I'd missed something. I thought maybe you were confusing the two.. so I went and looked at a parts diagram. They are different part numbers, but on paper, they sure look a lot alike! It would be cool if they bolted up and we could have another gearing option versus just the final drive! But I'm sure it would have come up by now if it were a possible option.

I THINK they WILL bolt up. I know a LOT of the drive parts WILL interchange. The only thing I would check is the bolt pattern for the "U" joint.

Not sure about the 750/850 middle drive, but the XJ650 Maxim middle drive sure as hell ain't the same!

Anyone know what the gearing is with the 750/850 middle drive?

And yes.. the 650 has a different drive than the 750/850.

Unless I hear that the 750/850 WON'T bolt up I will see if I can find one reasonably priced. That means cheap. Cheap enough that if it won't work I can get my money back. It'd be nice to know for parts reasons anyway. Which is all I had entended it for. I won't be able to actually do the comparison until next winter. With the short riding season around these parts I save my tear downs for that stuff for winter.

I know for certain that there are two type of middle drives used on the 750:

Type 1 - the outer bearing cover has one hole at the 6 O'clock position.

Type 2 - The outer bearing cover has two holes at 6 O'clock.

Our 11's use the Type 2 drive.
