I was almost through rewiring a different harness and discovered that it would have taken alot more work and money to try to attach some missing connectors. So i looked at my original harness that was on the bike, and fixed some bad wires and shrink wrapped them so they would look nice.I do alot of machine wiring at my job so i thought that it was not that big of a deal.As far as sensors-what kind are you talking about?

Well I am just wanting to make it as simple as possible like one wire loom power and engine and one for the blinkers and lights wiring kit from dennis kirk I figured I could jump some wires on the cdi and wire the regulator in to the stator and power/starter

        Getting WIRED!

        Hey there Exxxcess,

IF you'll look in the links section, you'll find a thread about WIRING diagrams for the bikes. I checked your profile and you have a 79SF. IF you will EDIT your signature to include the year/make of your bike, it'll make asking and receiving tech tips and help easier and more correct, because there ARE differences between models and years!

Now, you need to realize that the ignition box is a TCI....transistor controlled ignition unit, NOT a CDI...Capacitance Discharge Ignition. Our TCI's are just electronicly controlled points system, and the ignition coils are regular ~3.0 ohm....or 1.5 ohm for the early models WITH a ballast resistor that makes the load on the TCI equal 3 ohms. IF you want to upgrade to stronger spark plug coils, you can see the TECH TIP in the MODS section regarding the MikesXS coils, you can remove/bypass the ballast resistor, and have/use the 3 ohm coils. You don't want to go get some 0.7 ohm CDI type coils or you'll fry the TCI!!! The TCI has not only the pickup coil triggers going to it, but also power leads that feed the coils...directly with the full 12 volts during startup cranking, but then another circuit that feeds/routes it thru the ballast resistor once the engine is running, to not burn up the OEM coils, but not needed with the high power coil upgrade.

Now, with regards to the turn signals circuit, you mentioned a UNIVERSAL blinker set....with LEDs! The OEM turn signal flasher is a THERMAL unit, needs a total of 54 watts/4.5 amps draw thru the circuit to activate the flasher. LEDS don't draw anywhere near that, more like 0.3 amps, so you'll need to get a 2 prong ELECTRONIC flasher instead, and this will eliminate the self cancelling feature, but looks like you are looking for simplifying the wiring anyways. But another thing you will need....IIRC is a special diode wiring linkage for the pilot box/dash turn signal indicator, because you only have 1 light to tell you the blinkers are on. With LEDs, the power will leak thru this indicator light, and cause all 4 to blink at once if at all!! MikesXS also sells this special diode wiring link..a "Y" fitting that will allow the indicator signal to go to the dash light from either side without bleeding thru to the other side!

Other circuits you can remove/bypass is the RESERVE LIGHTING UNIT, it was just designed to use the high beam at a lower power when the low beam filament burns out, and lights a warning light at the dash. There's a tipover cut off switch/relay under the tank, can be removed to bypass.

Hope you can read a wiring diagram, have fun!!!

Thanks that is what I was looking for I do understand wiring diagrams just did not want to buy the book as far as the blinkersgo yeah I understand about the leds and I have also found a realay that handles the different draws although I have not bought yet so I will take a look at what you suggest when I finish the bike I will post and let everyone know how it goes and what parts I use
