brake fluid reservoirs....

In short, I need one, cuz mine leaks around the cap. 25 years in the sun while coverd with DOT 3 hasnt been nice to the plastic.

After consulting the local yamaha dealer, the nice young man informed me that my 78 xs came from the factory with cast aluminum resevior... i dont think so

I ran down there and found out that he inferred his information from one of those computerized, grainy, microfiche programs. So, i was wondering if anyone had a part number for the resievior or ever had any trouble with theirs. Honestly, I think I might be better off picking one up off ebay for a later model bike. In that case, does anyone know what the bore of the cylinder is?

yea, I could use one too as mine is abraded from a crash long ago. Just the top plastic reservoir, cap and rubber pieces.

Hey there Pro,

From my understanding, it's a standard 10mm fitting, that's what I've read when contemplating replacing my lines with Stainless Steel ones. I, too, had a defective front cylinder, and didn't want to bother with attempting a rebuild, so I went to my local salvage yard, picked up one for a Yamaha, it was a smaller sized reservoir. The main thing that I think is of a concern is that the old one had a longer piston throw which allowed it to push more fluid down into those two big pistons, and the newer ones don't or won't push as much fluid!? Mine isn't as strong as it used to be, could be from faulty bleeding, but could also be because it can't push as much of a volume of fluid into it before it can reach the high pressure needed to adequately compress the piston!?!?

I looked at partfish and bike bandit.....the cover and rubber and screws are available seperatly, but the plastic part is part of the whole MC and not available seperatly. Bike Bandit shows it discontinued and Partsfish listed a price of $162 for it, .
